Work with us

Our engagements

A strategic partner to founders and owners at varying stages of growth. Our work is custom-structured to serve a single decision, the whole business, and, for many clients, the years that follow.

Why an outside reading

Only you hold all of it

What we do — read the whole business at once: brand, marketing, operations, profitability.

What we find — the real constraint, not the symptom you came in with.

What you get — a written brief with your priorities, in order, ready to act on.

Begin here

The diagnosis, in two forms

Every engagement begins with the diagnosis: the brand, the marketing, the operations, and the profitability, considered together.

A single area

The focused review

For the decision that is clearly the decision: a focused strategic session on one area of the business.

  • One concentrated session
  • Brand, marketing, operations, or profitability
  • A written direction

The whole business

The full diagnosis

For the founder ready to see everything at once.

  • Six weeks, with sessions at set points
  • Four lanes, read as one system
  • The Direction, in writing

Fit is established in conversation before any commitment.

What you receive

Clarity, in writing

The diagnosis concludes in The Direction: a private written brief, tailored to the goals you’re looking to achieve in the next chapter of the business.

01

The whole picture

Where the business stands, seen across everything the engagement covered.

02

What stands in the way

The finding at the center of the diagnosis, and the evidence behind it.

03

Your priorities, in order

We assess what would make the most impact in the business, and in what order, so you know exactly what deserves attention next.

04

What to watch

The success indicators to track, so you can see The Direction working in the numbers.

The Direction is complete in itself, and some clients carry it forward with their own teams. Most ask us to stay, and we guide the implementation through a project or retainer partnership, outlined below.

The perceived problem is rarely the true issue.

Our core areas of expertise

What we look at

Four areas of expertise, practiced as one discipline, because a business never experiences its problems one department at a time. Where each engagement focuses is shaped by the business itself.

How the business is seen, remembered, and chosen. We assess whether what the world sees matches what the business delivers, whether an earned reputation is visible before a client ever arrives, and whether the business is positioned at the level and standard the founder holds.

This may include, among other areas:

  • Brand positioning & differentiation
  • Reputation, reviews & perception
  • Brand messaging, voice & story
  • Consistency across every touchpoint
  • Rebrands & refreshes
  • Brand architecture for multi-location & multi-offer businesses

The full marketing function, from strategy to story. We look at how the business attracts and converts its best clients, whether the message and the creative carry its true worth, and how content, channels, and campaigns work together to turn attention into booked revenue.

This may include, among other areas:

  • Lead generation & conversion
  • Marketing strategy & planning
  • Go-to-market (GTM) & launch strategy
  • Storytelling, copy & content
  • Website, user experience & the path to booking
  • SEO, social media & paid media
  • Email marketing & nurture
  • Client retention, referral & loyalty

How the business runs, and how it grows without strain. We review the structure beneath the experience: who owns what, how the work moves, the founder’s place in the day to day, and whether the systems and tools serve the business or hold it back.

This may include, among other areas:

  • Client experience & service design
  • The founder’s role & delegation
  • Team structure, roles & accountability
  • Systems, process & standard operating procedures
  • Tech stack, software & tools
  • AI & automation
  • Capacity, seasonality & expansion
  • Exit readiness & preparing a business for sale

Where the business earns, and where it could. We read pricing against reputation and market, weigh the margin each offering carries, and look for the revenue waiting inside what the business already does well.

This may include, among other areas:

  • Pricing strategy & pricing power
  • Profit margins & unit economics
  • New & untapped revenue streams
  • Revenue mix & quality
  • Cash flow & seasonality
  • The cost and return of the next commitment

And running through all four: alignment, the work of making brand, marketing, operations, and profitability move together, as one business.

Our process

What to expect

01

Inquiry

It begins with a brief introduction through our inquiry form: the business, and what is causing you to look now. We review it and respond to schedule a conversation.

02

Discovery

A thirty-minute conversation to understand the business and its ambitions. From there, we recommend the right beginning: the focused review, or the full diagnosis.

03

Scope & proposal

We prepare a tailored proposal for the diagnosis you choose, outlining scope, timeline, and investment, designed around the business.

04

Onboarding & alignment

Once approved, we formalize the engagement, complete onboarding, and align on access, priorities, and communication for a seamless start.

05

The diagnosis

The work takes the form you chose: a single concentrated session for the focused review, or six weeks moving discreetly through the whole business, with sessions at set points. Either way, you always know where things stand.

06

The Direction

The engagement concludes with The Direction: a private written brief of where the business stands, what deserves attention, and your priorities, in order, set against the goals you named for the chapter ahead.

Who it’s for

The businesses we serve best

We work with the businesses people choose for how they make them feel: destinations and travel, independent hotels and hospitality, beauty and aesthetics, wellness, design and interiors, and the lifestyle brands around them, from wineries to retreats to fashion. What they hire us for is the discipline of seeing a whole business clearly.

01

Your judgment built it

Whether the business carries your name or simply your standards, you’ve seen every chapter.

02

Growth outpaced the foundation

The business has outgrown the structure that started it. The foundation deserves a fresh look before the next level is built on it.

03

You want the full picture

Clarity matters most when it arrives before the next commitment, while the next chapter is still yours to shape.

The forms of engagement

How we partner

What the diagnosis reveals shapes what follows: your team can carry The Direction, or we can stay to guide it. We partner in two forms.

The ongoing partnership

Retainer engagements

Retainer-based partnerships are built for founders who want the whole business held in view without pause. We serve as your strategist in residence, an embedded outside seat with no agenda, weighing every decision of consequence before it is made.

This model is best suited to established businesses navigating sustained change: expansion, a leadership transition, or the seasons before a sale. Engaged by the quarter, so the counsel spans a full season of the business.

The focused partnership

Project engagements

Project-based engagements are designed around a single initiative with a clear beginning and end, such as a repositioning, a pricing decision, or the opening of a new location. We carry the findings of your diagnosis into motion and see the decision through.

This model suits owners seeking expert strategic support on one high-impact initiative without an ongoing partnership. Scope, timeline, and investment are defined in the proposal.

The practice takes on a limited number of engagements each season, so every business receives the depth of attention the work deserves.

“She is an incredibly intelligent and pragmatic individual, consistently providing valuable insights and ideas that drive better business outcomes. Nikki is sharp, focused, and always on the ball.”
